Under the guidance of an assigned site or clinical supervisor, interns will have the opportunity to observe, learn, and engage in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

- Empathetic communication with clients regarding addiction, mental illness, and recovery
- Client admission and orientation processes
- Administration and interpretation of screening/assessment instruments
- Development of treatment or service plans
- Participation in individual, group, and/or family counseling sessions
- Discharge planning
- Referral and linkage to community resources, including social, legal, and educational providers
- Attendance at interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
- Participation in clinical supervision sessions
