The Marchman Act is a Florida law that allows for the involuntary assessment, stabilization, and treatment of individuals struggling with substance abuse. It can be initiated by family members, healthcare professionals, or law enforcement when someone is unable to recognize their need for treatment due to their substance use and is at risk of harm to themselves or others. The goal is to provide a pathway to recovery through court-ordered intervention and care.
